1959 Corvette Custom : 4-Cam ’59
This is a customer’s car that came to us as an unfinished project. The fabricated square tube chassis uses stock corvette body mounting points and adds C4 suspension front & rear. The engine is from the legendary C4 ZR1 corvette: LT5 DOHC aluminum V8 and backed by a modern TCI 6X push-button auto trans.
The front end uses poly bushings and high strength stainless hardware as well as adjustable coil-over mounts and C5 brakes.
In the rear, a narrowed C4 suspension was used along with tubular links and heim joints.
Exhaust has been fabricated and Jet hot coated for long-lasting good looks.
The body is painted in Porsche Guards Red with two coats of clear sprayed over the base coats, then multiple stages of wet-sanding before more coats of clear are applied to give the deep, smooth finish you’ll see in the final product. Custom rear bumpers are modified versions of a ’54 Corvette front bumper for a more sculpted look. The stock rear tail lights and fuel filler were shaved in favor of a flush-mount LED tail light setup which is invisible until the lights are illuminated and shine through the paint.
We worked with Holley to upgrade this exotic aluminum V8 with modern HP EFI technology. A custom “36-1” crank trigger wheel was used with a hall-effect crank sensor. This coupled with the stock 1X cam sensor allowed us to use eight individual ignition coils for maximum spark efficiency using sequential ignition. This will be one of the first LT5 engines to use stand-alone self tuning engine management.
This car was displayed in the Addco Industries both 23437 at SEMA 2018 and received a lot of attention! We look forward to the upcoming photo shoots and magazine features.
