1965 Pontiac Catalina Convertible : 421 4spd Frame-Off Restoration

1965 Pontiac Catalina Convertible : 421 4spd Frame-Off Restoration

This is a true numbers matching, PHS documented, 421 / 4-speed Catalina convertible. It has 8-lug wheels, ride & handling package, factory tach & rally gauge packages.
Other factory options shown on the PHS docs are: Push button radio with power antenna, Deluxe steering wheel, verba-phonic dual speakers, all available lamps, Soft ray tinted windshield,  Safe-T-Trac posi rear axle, 3.38 ratio and incredibly rare Transistorized Ignition.
This Catalina has undergone a complete frame-off restoration here at Automotion Classics. The body was media blasted to remove paint & undercoating top & bottom while on a rotisserie. Body work has been completed in-house and painted the original Fontaine Blue color. The finish is show quality and second to none.
The original bumpers have been re-chromed along with the tail panel and all lesser chrome parts. Every piece of stainless steel trim was painstakingly polished by a local professional. Correct re-production door panels & upholstery have been made to factory specs using N.O.S Vinyl. All correct materials and patterns are used to recreate the factory interior perfectly. None of these pieces are available and had to be made specifically for this car.

The body has been refitted to the completed rolling chassis after carefully painting the floor pan and installing brake & fuel lines. New body mounts & re-plated original hardware were used throughout.

This car was originally equipped with a single 4-barrel Carter carb but was long ago converted to a correct 1965 Tri-power setup with the 356hp camshaft and long tube manifolds. The original carb, intake, exhaust manifolds etc came with the car and will be included with the sale.

This is a documented three-owner car with stacks of paperwork dating back to the 1960’s: Original sales brochures, factory option pricing pamphlet, service bulletins, owner protection plan/protect-o-plate booklet, owners guide booklet, operation and care manual for the folding top, even an ad for the car when the second owner offered it for sale in 1981 are all part of this package. These are things that most owners never saved, nor passed on to subsequent purchasers.

This is a true nut-and-bolt restoration completed to concourse quality. Approximately 10 miles have been driven since completion in September 2016. Ready for a museum or your private collection.
