1972 BMW 2002 : M20 Swap
This solid Agave green 2002 will be undergoing a subtle “hot rod” treatment here at Automotion Classics.
We upgraded the drivetrain to a 2.5 liter fuel injected M20 engine from an E30 BMW (’89 325i), installing a 5-speed manual transmission and a host of other upgrades to make this fast and reliable while also looking completely stock at first glance.
An Ireland Engineering suspension kit lowers the car about 1.5″ utilizing Bilstein sport struts and upgraded sway bars. A big brake kit using 320is front & rear brakes gives ample stopping power for this modified 2002.
The engine was upgraded with a Schrick Camshaft, Miller MAF conversion and Miller WAR chip tuned by us using a wideband O2 sensor and a laptop.
The interior was meant to look as stock as possible: a set of vintage VDO gauges was sourced for the center console. A new Tachometer & GPS referenced electronic speedometer were used in the dash.
11/6/15 UPDATE: The car has been driven approximately 60 miles and it performs very well as expected. Great power and torque makes this a real monster 2002!
