This 1997 North American Spec Defender 90 was recently purchased from long-time owners who purchased it in 2001 from a Land Rover dealer in Philadelphia and used it seasonally at their home on Nantucket. The vehicle was used regularly until 2015 and has sat idle since then until we acquired the vehicle in June.
This 1997 NAS D90 represents the final year Land Rover imported Defenders into the U.S. and is the most desirable model for a number of reasons: It’s the only NAS Defender to be equipped with an Automatic Transmission; Upgrades were made to the 4.0 V8 for better power and reliability as well. This particular example is equipped with factory Air Conditioning, making for a great family friendly vehicle.
Showing 87,000 original miles and a clean carfax, this Defender starts, runs, drives & stops very well. We recommend some maintenance and restoration work to get this vehicle back in daily driver condition which we would be happy to discuss with prospective buyers.
The British Racing Green paint appears to be all original and shows some scratches on the sides and fading of the clear coat on the hood & tops of the wings. The bulkhead, original chassis and other steel components are in surprisingly good condition and very little rust repair is needed. See photos for details.
