This 1984 Jetta MK1 is a 1-year only model for the U.S. before the MK2 was introduced in 1985. It has just 52,000 original miles!
The 2 liter diesel engine and 5-speed manual trans make this a very economical classic, netting about 50mpg average. A complete and functioning Greasecar waste vegetable oil system has been installed and the car is set up to run on both diesel fuel and WVO.
Paint is all original and shows well for the age. A few dings ans scrapes are visible. The only rust on the body is on the left front fender infront of the wheel.
The whole brake system has been rebuilt using new calipers, hoses, pads, rotors and wheel cylinders (replaced due to age). The original 13″ steel wheels with hubcaps are included with new tires installed. Currently mounted is a set of BMW E30 14″ alloy wheels with summer tires. The suspension is all new with Boge shocks & struts, Neuspeed springs and OEM strut mounts. A precision alignment was completed at the time of installation.
The interior shows some wear but is very presentable. A crack free dash and factory A/C are rare to see.
