1973 Mercedes 280SE 4.5 Project

1973 Mercedes 280SE 4.5 Project

This 280SE has a classy understated look that is difficult to achieve in a vintage car. Wearing Beige Grey paint over brown interior, it’s equipped with the desirable 4.5 V8 engine, air conditioning power windows, and Becker Mexico radio with optional rear package shelf speakers. This example was owned for over 30 years by a woman who split her time between Palm Beach FL and her PA Estate.
Mileage is relatively low at 134,000 and a few thousand was spent on mechanical work recently. This Mercedes currently runs & drives but will need some restoration before being ready to drive daily. (Tires, brake work, tune up etc)
As shown in pictures, the body is very solid with only a couple of minor rust spots shown. The trunk floor is very presentable with only some surface rust in the spare tire well. Some panels have been repainted and the color match is not exact, but the body is straight and presentable.
The original brown MB Tex interior is in excellent condition. Seats are firm with no visible wear, the gauges all function properly and the dash is very presentable. The wooden inner windshield trim will need restoration but the veneer has not split.
With most of these W108 cars in total disrepair, this one is an attractive option for a do-it yourself restorer or a car enthusiast that wants to have the finishing touches done to their liking. Any and all restoration work can be completed in house here at Automotion Classics.
