1982 Porsche 911 SC Targa

1982 Porsche 911 SC Targa

This 1982 Porsche 911 SC Targa is a mechanically unmodified example with a factory red leather interior set against white paintwork. Power comes from a 3.0L fuel injected flat six mated to a 5-speed 915 transaxle. Sold new in Florida, this example features white Fuchs, black painted Targa hoop, and upgraded H4 lighting rather than the normal US-market “sugar scoop” sealed beam lights.

The 180 horsepower flat six starts easily and idles well, with smooth power delivery throughout the rev range. The body structure feels tight, with no squeaks or rattles apparent from the interior or body structure.

The only apparent modification is a period-correct Sony cassette deck installed in place of the factory Blaupunkt. The front seats have been reupholstered to match the rest of the original red interior, and the materials throughout the cabin show only a light patina for the age of the car.

The Targa roof panel is intact, and fits tightly to the bodywork. Some scoring is apparent on the outer skin, and while the panel is usable, it would benefit from a rebuild in the future.

The Carfax report shows a minor front-end accident in the car’s past, which is likely why the car now has upgraded H4 lighting. Since coming to us, we have replaced the front wheel bearings, and performed a thorough inspection. The 915 transaxle was recently out for a major service before coming to us. We found that the car is otherwise a mechanically well sorted driver, and ready to enjoy.
